Commissioned by the great concert series “Outernational” Max re-composed lost Ukrainian folk songs for the singer Mariana Sadovska and an ensemble of 2 violins, viola da gamba, theorbo / Lyra Polyversalis, double bass, improvised drums and tape electronics.
As a starting point, Mariana sent field recordings of unknown or lost ukrainian folksongs to Max, I chose the ones that touched me most, and recomposed them.
The premiere happened on December 2nd 2021 at Radialstem Berlin, two months before the Russian invasion in Ukraine.
The album of this project was released in January 2024 on Pantopia Music.
